Ashtead - Ashtead Park (Surrey)
|Thanks to Brian for the location and photographs of two Giant Redwoods in Ashtead Park. Brian gave these details of the two trees:
"I think the Ashtead Park trees were planted some time after 1889 when the school was a stately home & the park was part of its grounds. Unfortunately, the Park is overgrown with native deciduous trees, making even sequoias difficult to spot.
1) Ashtead Park, by northernmost ornamental pond. Visible in winter from A24. 0 17' 34" W 51 18' 51"N
2) Ashtead Park, amongst dense native trees. About 36.5 m tall, well above surrounding trees. Visible from N-S track through Park 0 17' 27" W 51 18' 49"N "
