Jim wrote to say, "I have an estimated 150ft Sequoia in my garden at Eller How in Ambleside, Cumbria. The development of the garden is well documented, and the Sequoia was probably introduced around 1870 by Henry Boyle, a 19th century plant collector, the then owner of the house."
Thank you for the photograph and information about the Sequoia in your garden. It's great that you have details like this, these things are usually lost with the passage of time. 1870 is of course just right given the size of the tree and the fact that they were not discovered until the 1850's. |
