Addlestone - Tyler Gardens (Surrey)

Thanks to Jim who sent the photographs of a Giant Redwood in Addlestone. He pointed out that "At the base of the tree the 'grass' seems less green and one has to ask Why?" An interesting point, Jim, the most likely cause I imagine would be the dense mat of needles from the branches above. I notice that on one side of the tree the grass seems unaffected, and on this side there are very few, if any, low branches to drop dead foliage directly onto the grass below.
