Thanks to Peggy for these photographs and description of Giant Seqioua on the Dall Estate. Peggy wrote; "Surrounded by the ancient Black Wood of Rannoch Scots pine forest, these two rows of Giant Sequoia are found at Dall Estate on the south shore of Loch Rannoch west of the village of Kinloch Rannoch. Historically the land was the seat of Clan Donnachaidh (Robertson) beginning in 1347. The current house, Dall Estate, is set on 90 acres and was commissioned by Clan Chief George Duncan Robertson and built by the renowned architect Thomas Mackenzie in 1855. From 1959 to 2002 the estate housed a boarding school, Rannoch School. The estate’s new owner planned to turn the estate into an exclusive club for the rich but was refused by local planners. It is currently up for sale for 7.6 million pounds. According to a now defunct website (www.rannoch.info/Wellingtonia/index.html), 'The mighty Wellingtonia is a tree from California. A number of these trees were planted in the Rannoch area for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. There are five in the woodlands near Camghouran and some in the grounds of Crosscriags House. Others are to be found in the grounds of Dall Estate near the old tennis courts.# I was only able to photograph the Dall Estate redwoods from a distance, but from the Bing and Google maps there appear to be two rows of five trees each behind the main estate house.
